RIVER DRAGONS INAUGURAL SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE
Wasaga River Dragons 2024-2025 Inaugural season comes to a close with a Game 6 defeat in the North Division Finals against the Bradford Rattlers who would go on to win the Russell Cup Championship this past Saturday. The Wasaga River Dragons had an amazing first season finishing Second Place in the North Division and Overall League Standings with a record of (31-9-2) and advancing to the 3rd round of the playoffs (North Division Finals).
The River Dragons had an exciting product on the ice that featured players from all over the world including Western Canada, USA, Finland, Sweden, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Italy, Israel, and France. The GMHL does not have any import rules which allows us to scout and recruit top talent from all over the globe to develop and advance their games to the next levels of hockey. This season's team will see atleast 6 players advance to the College and Pro Ranks which already includes Captain Joel Texmo to our affiliate Columbus River Dragons (FPHL), Ty Moore to the Watertown Wolves (FPHL), Sebastian Thome to Liberty University (ACHA), and several more to be announced shortly.
The Wasaga River Dragons would like to thank our Players, Staff, Billets, Fans and wonderful Sponsors for one of the best inaugural seasons in JR Hockey history. We look forward to coming back stronger next season and making more great memories in Wasaga Beach.
